Subfamily Panchaetothripinae

The subfamily Panchaetothripinae includes the thrips with strongly reticulate sculpture on body and legs. Worldwide, this subfamily includes nearly 145 species in 42 genera, with more than 50 per cent monospecific genera (ThripsWiki, 2023). The members of Panchaetothripinae are leaf feeders, associated with older, senescing leaves. In spite of this, a few species such as members of Caliothrips Daniel are pests on crop
seedlings, whereas others are generally associated with grasses, and some of them are found on aquatic plants.
