Terebrantia represent one of the suborders of Thysanoptera, and are predominantly phytophagous, with a few predatory species and a single genus with ectoparasitic species on Homoptera (Mound, 2005; Cavalleri et al., 2010). Approximately 2600 species in 335 genera are recorded from the world (ThripsWiki, 2023). In India, nearly 350 species are recorded in 125 genera, five families viz. Aeolothripidae, Merothripidae, Melanthripidae, Stenurothripidae and Thripidae and four subfamilies viz. Dendrothripinae, Panchaetothripinae, Sericothripinae and Thripinae in family Thripidae (Tyagi and Kumar, 2016; Rachana and Varatharajan, 2017).
