Nomenclature
Astrothrips tumiceps Karny, 1923: 331.
Diagnosis
Female macroptera: Body brown infused with yellow, antennae, tarsi and tibial apices yellow; forewing base yellow, with two brown cross bands bearing dark veinal setae, pale wing apex. Cheeks reticulate with raised expansion, vertex with transverse band of large reticles; ocellar hump strongly elevated over antennal bases. Antennae 7 segmented, V–VII joined closely, III and IV each with a simple sense cone. Pronotum with raised expansion of lateral margins, posterior side strongly reticulate. Mesonotum anterior margin deeply notched at the middle. Metanotum reticulated with definite triangle, median setae arising near posterior margin. Forewing first vein with irregular row of stout setae, second vein having about 9 setae; costal setae shorter than fringe cilia. Abdominal tergite II strongly constricted to base, anterolaterally with numerous claw-like microtrichia; V–VII with a pair of sigmoid wing-retaining setae; VIII without marginal comb medially but with a few teeths laterally.
