Subfamily Sericothripinae
The subfamily is a group of about 169 flower and leaf feeding thrips in three genera (ThripsWiki, 2023), frequently bicoloured, species whose larvae possess fringed or trumpet shaped major setae (Kudo, 1998). Sericothripines are significant among the Thripidae for their complex body structure and conspicuous colour patterns.
