Habitat / Crop(s) damaged
Bamboo. This bug is known to feed on the developing seeds of bamboo and very heavy build ups of the populations of this bug have been reported periodically from India and Myanmar, coinciding with gregarious flowering of bamboos.

Huge swarms settle on all sorts of vegetation and create a nuisance, but the bugs do not feed on other plants. After the cessation of flowering season, the insect population generally declines, because of lack of food or other adverse environmental factors.
Pest status
Minor.
