The ICAR-National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources (NBAIR), a Designated National Repository by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, has a mandate to collect, characterize and document the diversity of agriculturally important insects like pests of crops, their natural enemies, pollinators, etc. This site aims to fulfill this mandate and showcases the images of common insects found in Indian agroecosystems.

The ICAR-NBAIR seeks the co-operation of all students and researchers in entomology in India in making this venture a comprehensive one, covering all the major crop pests and other common insects associated with agroecosystems. Please make available to us representative specimens along with good quality images for the repository - we'll post them in this site with due credits to the owners.

We particularly invite contributions on insects restricted to particular regions in India so that this site caters to a pan-Indian audience. This is an ongoing venture and images will be added as and when fresh content is generated. Users are welcome to point out errors, if any. Any questions about the website or use of its contents (for non commercial purpose only) should be directed to Director, ICAR-NBAIR. Email id: director.nbair@icar.gov.in.
