Cosmopolitan and polyphagous on sorghum, rice, pigeonpea, cotton, bhendi, brinjal, castor, vegetables, and several other hosts.

Pigeonpea: Developing pods show feeding punctures of the bug and develop local necrosis, fruit spotting and deformation.

Cotton: Damaged green bolls and young shoots speckled with black dots which turn yellow and fall off; other bolls with a few black raised spots; seeds shrivelled and lint stained yellow.

Minor, rarely serious.
