Coffee (Coffea arabica and other related species) is the main host, but the beetle also affects many other hosts including teak, Albizzia, Pterocarpus marsupium, Ixora coccinea, Jasminum dispersum, etc.
Ring barking and tunneling by the larvae inside the wood kill young plants and in older plants, leaves become yellowish and wilt. The life cycle of the beetle is completed in about a year's time.
Pest status
A major pest of arabica coffee in many parts of India.
