Rice, sugarcane, maize, sorghum, ragi and other Gramineae. Leaves folded longitudinally with silk by slender, pale yellowish green, caterpillar inside the fold, scraping off green portion of the leaves leaving white patches; fields present a white, scorched appearance from a distance.
