Diagnosis

Female: Head, mesosoma black, metanotum partially orange, abdomen / gaster dark orange, apically brownish. Antenna with scape cylindrical, orange with infuscations on dorsal and ventral margins, pedicel black, F1 black, apically white, F2 white except apex black, rest of antenna dark brown to black, all funicular segments distinctly longer than broad. Forewing with white setae at base followed by a distinct band of dark brown setae followed by light brown setae in the remaining area, postmarginal vein longer than stigmal. Linea calva not reaching beyond half length of wing, broadly closed osteriorly. Fore and hind legs more or less yellowish brown, middle legs black, except distal third of tibiae and tarsi yellowish brown.

Male: Similar to female in general coloration except antenna and forewing.

The adults are easily identified by their distinctive coloration. The species of Apoleptomastix of the Indian / Oriental region are keyed by Noyes and Hayat (1994) and Hayat (2006).

Distribution

India: Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu (Hayat, 2006).

Hosts / Biology

A parasitoid of Nipaecoccus viridis (Newstead) (Hayat, 2006).
