Live character of Pulvinaria aligarhensis Avasthi & Shafee

Adult female oblong with clear indentations at spiracular and anal cleft. Narrow towards head and rounded behind. Initial instars brown with orange tinge. As the female grows it becomes darker; anal operculum lighter. Series of patches arising from anal operculum diverge initially and then converge towards head forming lighter colour lanceolate patch in the median area. As the female grows horizontal depressions develop on dorsum, which correspond to the abdominal segments. Ovisac profuse highly convex with clear median furrow. Eggs bright orange. During heavy infestation ovisacs merge together and droop down from the tree branches.
