Adult long and narrow, acutely pointed at each end, almost of the form of a banana; flat at the edges and convex above. Colour varying from yellowish brown in the early adult to deep chocolate-brown in older examples. Intermediate stages ochreous with a median reddish stripe, and bright castaneous. There is always a pale ochreous patch immediately anterior to the anal plate. Eyes black, visible only in the paler forms.
