Nomenclature

Scolothrips asura Ramakrishna and Margabandhu, 1931: 1035.

Scolothrips quadrinotata Han and Zhang, 1982: 53.

Diagnosis

Female macroptera: Body brown; legs, prothorax and abdominal segments III–V yellow,  IX–X brown; forewing having two dark transverse bands including clavus. Antennae 8 segmented; III–IV each with a forked sense cone. Head with ocellar setae III long, arising within ocellar triangle, 2 pairs of postocular setae behind ocelli. Pronotum transverse with a few transverse lines; discal setae absent; 6 pairs of long major setae excluding two pairs of posteroangular setae. Metanotum striate medially and irregularly reticulate anteriorly; median setae pair at anterior margin, wide apart. Forewing with pointed apex; costal setae long, costal cilia present only medially; first vein with 8 long setae irregularly arranged in a continuous row, second vein with 4 long setae. Abdominal tergite VIII without marginal comb. Abdominal sternites without discal setae.
