Plesiothrips perplexus (Beach)

Diagnosis
Female macroptera: Body bicoloured, head and thorax brown but abdomen light brown or yellow with dark apex; legs yellow; forewing light brown with clear basal quarter. Antennae 7 segmented; III and IV each with a forked sensorium. Head projecting in front of eyes; ocellar pair III just in front of hind ocelli and as long as side of ocellar triangle. Pronotum with 2–3 posteromarginal setae pairs. Metanotum without median sculpture; median setae small, well behind anterior margin. Forewing first vein with 2 distal setae; second vein with 10 setae. Abdominal tergite VIII with a few lateral small microtrichia posterior margin. Abdominal sternites without accessory setae, median marginal setae pair on sternite VII close to margin.
