Diagnosis
- Scutum reddish brown with anterior and posterior black patches
- Scutum with broad triangular, yellow coloured prescutellar patch
- Scutellum entirely yellow with three pairs of scutellar setae
- Wing predominantly dark brown to black with hyaline spots and wedges
- Oviscape black with aculeus tactile (elongate preapical setae)
Host plants
They are predominantly saprophytic. Larvae of D. modestum were found feeding on frass coming out of drumstick trunk damaged by coleopteran borer.
