Diagnosis
Head and mesosoma reddish to yellowish brown, metasoma blackish brown, shiny with metallic reflection, base of T1 and tip of gaster brownish; antennal scape testaceous, remainder pale brown, clava darker; legs yellowish brown. Forewing with a dusky cloud below stigma vein and a broad brown band below parastigma reaching up to a little above hind margin, with several rows of dark setae.

Distribution
India: Karnataka, Maharashtra.
Hosts
Members of Ophelosia are known to be egg predators and primary parasitoids of mealybugs like Pseudococcus, Planococcus, Nipaecoccus, etc. Some are hyperparasitoids of mealybugs through their encyrtid parasitoids. Ophelosia maculata was collected in association with Planococcus citri (Risso).
