Diagnosis

Head and mesosoma black, compound eyes metallic green, gastral petiole black, second tergite black except for lateral margins yellowish, subsequent segments reddish brown, medially blackish; antenna black to dark brown except for the first two segments which are yellow, tegulae yellowish, first two pairs of legs yellowish brown, last pair darker, reddish brown except coxae black. Fore wing without areolet; hind wing with nervellus not intercepted. First gastral segment (petiole) with a lateral pit or groove (also known as glymma) in front of spiracle. Hind basitarsus bears a continuous median ventral row of ventral row of very small and very closely spaced short hairs forming a line on the tarsal segment, which is difficult to observe except at very high magnifications.

Distribution

Widely distributed throughout India.

Hosts / Biology

Larval endoparasitoid of several major noctuid pests such as Spodoptera litura (F.), Helicoverpa armigera (Huebner), Leucinodes orbonalis Guenee, and Crocidolomia pavonana (F.) (=C. binotalis Zeller) on various crops.
