Diagnosis

Female: Length 0.8-1.4mm. Head metallic green with purple reflections, especially between the antennal furrows; antennae yellow, slightly brownish on the upper sides of pedicel and funicle joints; mesosoma orange yellow, with pronotum brownish in front and a green oval spot covering posterior part of pronotum and anterior third of mesonotum; propodeon and metanotum brownish on sides; metasoma brown, more or less yellowish at base; wings hyaline. Antennae inserted just above clypeus; antennal furrows covering and uniting before front ocellus; scape a little broadened in middle, not reaching front ocellus; pedicel twice as long as broad; first 5 funicle joints small, sub-quadrate, narrower than pedicel, 6th joint a little larger, as broad as pedicel and almost quadrate; club oval, broader, almost as long as funicle; mesosoma short, oval, finely shagreened; mesonotum broader than long; axillae triangular; marginal vein punctiform or scarcely longer than broad, stigmal and postmarginal veins subequal in length; legs normal; spurs of middle tibiae almost as long as metatarsus; hind femora somewhat thickened; metasoma shortly oval, not or scarcely longer than mesosoma; ovipositor not protruding (Ferriere, 1935).

Distribution

India: Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh (Hayat, 2006).

Hosts / Biology

Kerria communis on Ficus mysorensis (Mahdihassan, 1956); K. fici (Mahdihassan, 1925); K. lacca (Ferriere, 1935); same host on Ficus sp. and Nephelum litchi (Shafee et al., 1975); K. nagoliensis; Metatachardia conchiferata and Paratachardina lobata (Mahdihassan, 1925).
