DiagnosisLength 4.20-4.45 mm, width 3.70-4.08 mm. Body outline broad oval, elytra narrowed towards apex in posterior half; dorsum strongly convex. Head and pronotum black. Elytra ochre yellow or reddish brown, lateral margins with black borders. Life stages as illustrated below.
Similar to Chilocorus circumdatus (Gyllenhal) in general appearance, but can be readily separated by the black head and pronotum and the broader lateral stripes of elytra. ImagesDistributionIndia: Restricted to eastern region (Sikkim; West Bengal). Myanmar. China.
Prey / Associated habitatHEMIPTERA: Diaspididae: Aonidiella aurantii (Maskell), Aonidiella
orientalis (Newstead), and Chrysomphalus aonidum (Linnaeus) infesting mulberry and citrus.
Seasonal occurrenceCollected during July, and September-October in eastern India.
