Taxonomic position

Diagnosis

Female: Length 0.98-1.59 mm. Body dorsoventrally moderately flattened and elongate; body, excluding appendages dark brown; antennae dark brown; legs including fore coxae yellow; wings hyaline; head and dorsum of thorax moderately shiny with shallow rugose sculpture on frontovertex and scutellum and coriaceous sculpture on mesoscutum; scape slightly broadened and flattened, flagellum filiform; forewings about 2.5x as long as broad; gaster longer than head and thorax together; ovipositor slightly exserted (Noyes and Hayat, 1994).

Distribution

India: Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh (Hayat, 2006), Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, Odisha, West Bengal (UCD, Noyes, 2013).

Hosts / Biology

Coccidohystrix insolita on Solanum (Shamim & Shafee, 1985); indet. Coccid (Hayat, 1970); indet. mealybug (Hayat, 1986).
