Diagnosis | : | Adult weevils are dark brown in colour. On the surface of elytra white patches are visible. Grubs are creamy white in colour with a distinct head and slightly curved body. |
Host | : | They are known to feed on wide range of malvaceous plants. Cambodia cotton is the most preferred host plant. Malvaceous hosts other than cotton are Abelmoschus esculentus, Abutilon indicum, Althea rosea, Corchorus acutangulus, Corchorus olitorius, Dombey angulate, Gossypium religiosum, Hibiscus cannabinus, H. esculentus, H. ficulensus, H. rosa sinensis, H. vitifolius, Malvastrum coromandelianum, Sida cordifolia, S. glutinosa, S. rhombifolia, S. rhomboidea, S. spinosa, Urena Lobatai. Triumfetta rhomboidea is the most preferred wild host. |
