Diagnosis

Gaster of female with the hypopygium extending at most about half way along, and without a mucro. Dorsal surface of hind coxae without a longitudinal crest. Median carina of propodeum (when present) not stongly raised, and not traversed by a crest. Body most often distinctly metallic, rarely black or nearly so (Graham, 1969).

India - Gastrancistrus agarwali Ahmad, 1995 (Haryana); Gastrancistrus bengalicus Narendran, 2001 (West Bengal); Gastrancistrus cherryi Bouček, 1986 (Karnataka & West Bengal); Gastrancistrus dehradunensis Jamal Ahmad & Ahmad, 1997 (Uttar Pradesh); Gastrancistrus muneswari Yadav, 1978 (Bihar and West Bengal) and Gastrancistrus pantnagarensis Gupta & Khan, 2007 (Uttarakhand).

Biology / Hosts

Primary hosts are dipterans mainly from family Cecidomyiidae.
