Nomenclature

Acmopolynema Ogloblin, 1946: 286. Type species: Stichothrix bifasciatipennis Girault, by original designation.
Grangeriella Soyka, 1956: 17. Type species: Grangeriella indochinensis Soyka by original designation. Synonymy by Hayat and Anis (1999b: 297).
Neonarayanella Husain and Farooqi, 1996: 83. Type species: Maidliella orientalis Narayanan, Subba Rao and Kaur, by original designation. Synonymy by Hayat and Anis (1999b: 297).
Baburia Hedqvist, 2004: 235. Type species: Baburia narendrani Hedqvist, by original designation. Synonymy by Triapitsyn and Berzovskiy (2007: 6).

Diagnosis

Acmopolynema belongs to the Polynema group of genera and can be identified by the following combination of characters:

Lin et al. (2007) and Triaptsyn and Berezovskiy (2007) have provided diagnostic accounts of Acmopolynema with illustrations. Hayat & Anis (1999) have dealt with the Indian species and keyed them.

Geographic Distribution

Worldwide, except western Palaearctic (Lin et al., 2007). See Indian distribution map.

Hosts and habitat

Hosts include Gryllidae, Cercopidae, and Cicadellidae (Lin et al., 2007), Machaerotidae (Hindola striata) (Noyes, 2013).
