Diagnosis

Length: 1.0-1.2 mm. Body all black. Scutellum covered with silvery white hairs, expanded above level of scutum to form large conical structure which is truncate and slightly excavated dorsally (volcano-shaped), dorsal lip margined with spines, excavate surface coarsely rugose, continued posteriorly as a shallow elongate depression, sometimes with serrate margin. Wing venation virtually absent, represented at most by very short basal impression of submarginal vein.

Procontarinia matteiana Kieffer & Cecconi and possibly other Procontarinia spp. on mango (Austin, 1984).
