Diagnosis

Female: Length: 0.65-1.12 mm. Head yellowish, vertex testaceous, occiput largely dark brown. Thorax yellowish, with brown to dark brown as follows: pronotum except sides, anterior margin narrowly to 0.33x of mid lobe, axillae varying from dark brown to completely yellow, metanotum and propodeum brownish, petiole partly brown to dark brown; abdomen anteriorly yellowish to white, rest dark brown to nearly black, last two tergites sometimes paler; venter yellow with distal 2-3 sternites brown. Antenna yellow with sensillae brown; wings hyaline; legs, including coxae fully yellowish to slightly suffused with brown.

Male: Males differ from females in having a completely dark brown thorax (except pale side lobes), partly dark brown head and completely brown abdomen with base sometimes yellow to dusky yellow (from Hayat, 1998).

Commonly collected in association with Coccidohystrix insolita (Green).

Distribution

India: Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Bihar, Delhi, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh. China (Hayat, 1998).

Hosts / Biology

Commonly collected in association with Coccidohystrix insolita (Green). Other hosts include Nipaecoccus spp., Nipaecoccus viridis, Ferrisia virgata, Peliococcus indicus, Planococcus citri, Planococcus sp., Rastrococcus iceryoides, and ?Pulvinaria maxima (Hayat, 1998).
