Diagnosis

Female body dark brown, segment X of abdomen dark. Fore wing with 2 dark cross bands alternating with 3 clear areas. Male strikingly bicolored, with head, pterothorax, abdominal segment I and VI-X unicolorous, dark brown; prothorax and abdominal segments II-V yellow; legs yellow, but with mid and hind tibiae dark brown, tarsi shaded dark. Dorsal interocular area depressed anteriorly. Setae on head minute. Eyes without pigmented facets. Postocular setae in 3-4 irregular rows. Proboscis conical, more elongate in female than male. Maxillary palp 3-segmented. Antennae 9-segmented; segment I without dorsal apical setae; segment III and IV each with a broad ventral longitudinal sensorium in about half and less, additionally with a minute slender emergent sense cone mesial to long sensorial; segment V to VIII with emergent sense cones. Sensory area on antennal segment IV arched at apex, reaching middle of segment and reaching apex of segment; that on segment III not reaching middle of segment. Antennal segment V shorter than IV, segment V slightly shorter than style. Prontal surface covered with minute setae. Basantra membranous, without setae. Ferna entire, narrowed at middle, posteriorly incut in middle. Mesothoracic sternopleural sutures present. Spinula present on both meso- and metasterna. Metanotal sculpture reticulate at middle in a median V-shaped area, laterally longitudinally and obliquely sculptured. Tarsi 2-segmented. Wings fairly broad, parallel sided, rounded apically. Fore wing without anterior fringe hairs, posterior fringe of hairs straight. Male without gland areas on sterna. Lateral seta of segment IX not stout and sickle-shaped. Dorsal plates absent on abdominal segments. Seta S1 of dorsal plate of abdominal tergum IX placed near middle of plate, not close to seta S2.

Distribution

India (Delhi), Iran, China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kurdistan.

Prey

This species is predatory on the species of Thrips.
