For X. auripennis: Has been reported as X. nasalis in the recent literature from India (e.g., Prashantha & Belavadi, 2017, based on material from southern India). However, the expected species of this subgenus in India is X. auripennis, and it is not clear whether true X. nasalis, described from China and widely reported from Indochina and Thailand, genuinely occurs in India. If so, it should be limited to the North-east. Sources of confusion in the subgenus have included difficulties in interpreting the identification key in Moure and Hurd (1963), divergent interpretations of dates and rank of nominal taxa in the older literature (e.g., Maa, 1938), incomplete documentation of biogeographic limits in available publications, and notable variation in size and wing color within and between populations.
