Diagnosis

Adult apterae are sedentary; small, flattened, broadly oval, dorsal surface dark reddish brown to black dusted with wax, with a fringe of radiating plates of white wax. Apterae 1.0-1.6mm long x 0.7-1.2 mm broad, alatae 1.0-2.0 mm.

Antennae almost 0.2 to 0.25 times as long as body. Processus terminalis almost equal to or 0.8 times as long as base of last antennal segment. Siphunculi pore like and cauda rounded, with 10 hairs.

In life, the species can be separated from the other species of Cerataphis by its reddish colour.

Orchidaceae: Vanilla sp. Specific to Orchidaceae.
