Diagnosis

Aphids dirty green in colour. Head, last thoracic and all abdominal segments thickly coated with wax. Antenna dark greenish brown so are legs and cauda, only tibial segments of legs dusted with white wax. The Siphunculi is almost truncate. The aphid is found on the upper surface of the leaves of the host plants situated near water source.

India (Karnataka, Tamil Nadu), Indonesia (Java), Taiwan, Australia, New Guinea.

Host plant(s)

Poaceae: Leersia, Cynodon dactylon, C. plectostachyum Pilger, Miscanthus, Pennisetum, Phragmites, and other grasses often near or in water.

Measurements

Aptera: Length of body 1.70, width 0.9, antenna 0.90, antennal segments III: IV: V: VI 0.16: 0.148: 0.16: (0.11+ 0.22); ultimate rostral segment 0.07; h.t2 0.08; siphunculus 0.21; cauda 0.62.
Alata: Alates could not be collected.

Seasonal occurrence

April-May, July-November.

Natural enemies

Coleoptera: Coccinellidae: Cheilomenes sexmaculata (Fabricius).
