Aphelinidae is an economically important family of Chalcidoidea and includes some of the most successful and widely used parasitoids in applied biological control such as Aphytis, Encarsia and Aphelinus. The family includes mainly parasitoids of scales, whiteflies, aphids, etc. Some are egg parasitoids on other insects or hyperparasitoids. The erstwhile composite Aphelinidae is now classified into three families - Aphelinidae, Azotidae and Eriaporidae. This site provides illustrated fact sheets on the known Indian genera of these families with details on nomenclature, diagnosis, distribution, hosts / biology and species known from India. We hope this site will be useful in identifying the Indian genera of Aphelinidae.
