Nomenclature
Pteroptrix Westwood, 1833: 344. Type species: Pteroptrix dimidiatus Westwood, by monotypy.
Diagnosis
- Antenna with 7 or 8 segments, antennal formula 1133, flagellum usually elongate, spindle-shaped, clava 3-segmented, usually longer than pedicel and funicle segments combined
- Fore wings with elongate marginal fringe, linea calva absent
- Tarsal formula 4-4-4
